Vodka
Used in 3 recipes on RecipeWiki.
Vodka is a clear, neutral spirit, distilled from grain or potatoes and filtered for smoothness. It has a clean, slightly peppery taste. Its neutrality is what makes it useful: in an Espresso Martini it adds strength without competing with the coffee, and in a Blue Hawaii it lets the blue curaçao and pineapple lead. It also has a place in the kitchen. In Ukha, the Russian fish soup, a splash is stirred into the finished pot, adding a sharp edge to the broth. Keep a bottle in the freezer for very cold cocktails. It will not freeze solid at normal freezer temperatures.

Recipes with vodka

Blue Hawaii
Rum, vodka, pineapple and blue curaçao — a drink invented to match a colour, and none the worse for admitting it.

Espresso Martini
Vodka, coffee liqueur and a fresh shot of espresso shaken hard enough to build a proper crema on top.

Ukha
Clear freshwater fish broth, never thickened and barely seasoned, so what you taste is the fish and the water it cooked in.
