Terms of use
RecipeWiki is run by Yarkii LLC. By using the site you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short.
Cooking is your responsibility
The recipes here are a reference, not a guarantee. Ovens differ, ingredients differ, and your judgement in your own kitchen beats any instruction written by someone who is not standing in it. Cook food to safe internal temperatures, and if something looks or smells wrong, do not eat it.
Take particular care with recipes involving undercooked eggs, undercooked fish or meat, honey, or food kept as leftovers. If you are pregnant, elderly, very young or immunocompromised, or cooking for someone who is, follow the advice of your national food authority rather than a recipe on the internet.
Ingredient lists name common allergens in plain language, but they are not an allergen safety guarantee. Check the labels on the ingredients you actually buy. We cannot know what else is in your kitchen, or how a product has been reformulated.
How this site is written
The recipes this collection started with were written and reviewed for coherence and safety — they were not developed and tested in a kitchen. Contributors add and correct recipes alongside them. There is more on this on the about page.
Your account
You need an account to contribute, so that edits can be attributed and undone. Keep access to your email address secure, since that is how you sign in, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Your public name is generated rather than chosen — there is nothing to claim, and no way to register a name that impersonates somebody.
We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms.
What you contribute
You keep ownership of what you write. You are not signing your work over to us.
When you contribute a recipe or an edit, you license it to everyone — including us — under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). In plain terms: anyone may copy, adapt and republish your contribution, including commercially, provided they credit you and release their version under the same licence. It is the licence the whole site uses.
This licence cannot be withdrawn. If you delete your account, contributions you have already made remain available under it. That is what keeps a shared wiki usable rather than something that dissolves when a contributor leaves.
Only contribute what you are entitled to. Do not paste in a recipe copied from a book, a magazine or another site — a list of ingredients is generally not protected, but somebody’s written method and headnote usually are.
Editing, and being edited
Anything you write here can be changed by somebody else. That is the point of a wiki, not a fault in it. Every version is kept, every change is attributed, and anything can be reverted.
Do not vandalise pages, do not add spam or advertising, do not deliberately introduce unsafe instructions, and do not attempt to break or overload the site.
Liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, Yarkii LLC is not liable for what happens when you cook, or for loss arising from use of the site. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes, and governing law
We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted on this page with the date they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States.
