Coffee liqueur
Used in 2 recipes on RecipeWiki.
Coffee liqueur is a sweet spirit flavoured with roasted coffee, usually rum or neutral spirit based, with a dark, syrupy body and a taste between espresso and caramel. In an Espresso Martini it backs up a shot of fresh espresso and vodka, adding sweetness and depth, and the hard shake is what produces the pale foam on top. In the Bushwacker, a frozen blended drink, it gives a mocha note against cream of coconut. Liqueurs vary a great deal in sweetness, so taste yours and adjust any extra sugar syrup. An opened bottle keeps well at room temperature.
